The latest news about Facebook is that Facebook has added a new feature called “Watch Later” to its videos. It is a move similar to YouTube’s watch offline facility. Videos can be saved just by clicking on the watch later feature. Facebook actually released a Save feature in their videos a year back. The “Save Video” link was found on the top by clicking on the drop-down box. Similarly, a Save button appeared on most non-video posts. Most people did not know such a feature existed. Now they see a simple, brightly visible “Watch Later” feature each time they scroll down a video or just pass the mouse over the video. It enables one-touch video downloading and saving, enhancing the Facebook video viewing experience.

Facebook is not rolling out this feature just as an extra facility. They intend to collect valuable data about what sort of video is saved and looked most and provide the details to page owners through a special video analytics dashboard. For a company that started allowing video ads only before a year, such a measure is appreciable. It shows Sheryl Sandberg the COO of the company intends to make the best possible use of the “Watch Later” video feature making it a great advertising magnet for huge brands.
