6 Best Smartphones for College Students In 2020

We can’t imagine our everyday life without gadgets anymore. Just imagine yourself reading this article in the morning newspaper! Looking a bit odd, right? Gadgets are our fastest way of connecting with the world, getting the latest news, entertaining ourselves, and, of course, learning. Despite all the distracting factors presented in smartphones, they are still very effective tools for studying. They can be used as devices to find needed information through the Internet on trusted educational websites, essay examples on free databases like https://procollegeessays.com/ or online libraries.  But how do the students choose their phones in 2020?

Students are often people who don’t have lots of money to spend. So, their smartphones should be affordable at first. But affordability doesn’t mean that they have to be outdated. Sometimes, a great phone of a small brand may cost half as much as a similar popular item. Another important thing is the size of the battery. Power banks are for emergencies, not for daily use to let your smartphone survive until the night.

There are lots of other criteria, but we tried to match at least these two, gathering these 6 nice but different models for you. We didn’t look for the best-in-class ones – there are tons of other reviews on the Internet that urge you to spend your annual income and buy another thing with an X+1 camera and super big and glossy screen. Let’s be realists, and let’s go and see!

  1. Xiaomi Redmi 7A

A nice and simple model that may cost you roughly $100 (depending on the country you are from). It has 2Gb of RAM (that is quite enough for most of the apps, just don’t run a dozen of them simultaneously). A nice battery capability lets you charge it once a day and then use it quite actively. But be careful: Redmi comes with the pre-installed MIUI launcher full of clumsy icons and apps you’ll never need. You may need to delete them manually (there are plenty of guides on the Internet,) and this will make your Redmi phone much faster and less prone to eat up your battery till noon. Redmi supports 2 SIM cards, but one may be replaced with an extra memory card. The cheapest model has only 16 GB of internal memory, so you might need this feature.

  1. Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

If you are tired of half-phones half-tablets that give you ache in the fingers, this one is the best choice for you. Light and small, it is great for constant daily use and also for people who work on their smartphones. This phone will also cost you $100-$150 (these extra $50 mostly are paid for Sony brand though). Its solid frame is mildly water-resistant, so you may get it back alive even after accidentally dropping it into the bathroom. Its battery is only 2600 mAh, but due to small size and rational usage of it, Xperia Z3 may live up to 2 days if not actively used. It also has 2GB RAM and 16 GB of internal memory with a slot for an extra memory card. A nice main camera of 20,7 Mp makes great photos, but the frontal camera is only 2,2 Mp, so if you are a selfie fan, you may be a bit disappointed.

  1. Nokia 4.2 DS

Another great phone in the same price frame, around $100-$150. Nokia offers us a credible European brand, famous assembly quality, pure Android without extra needless apps, and great characteristics. You may get 3 GB RAM for that price. Nokia 4.2 has slots for 2 SIM cards and may be extended with a memory card. The ratio of cameras differs from Sony, here the frontal camera is a whole 8 Mp, while the main one is 13 Mp only. Soб this one goes great for selfie lovers. The battery is not very big, it’s only 3000 mAh, but Nokia is a famous creator of long-lasting phones. The pure Android also gives it extra stamina (unless you install and run lots of extra apps by yourself).

  1. Huawei Y5

The same $100, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB memory device. It still features a nice chip frequency (2.0 – 2.2 GHz). The frontal camera is 5 Mp, the main is 13 Mp, but the quality of photos isn’t extraordinary – maybe we’ve just got used to the better camera software that processes the picture automatically? Still, you may get the Y5 model discounted (around $70-$80), and we think that its drawbacks are forgivable considering the price. The standard battery is 3020 mAh, but your phone will live much longer if you clear out all the pre-installed apps that are shoved into all Huawei phones.

  1. Honor 7A

Honor is a company owned by Huawei that offers cheaper versions of the original Huawei phones made especially for young people. They often feature chips with a lower frequency and less “status” appearance but are still suitable for everyday use. You may get Honor 7A for $70 and still have the same 2GB RAM and 16 GB of memory. But the 8 cores of the chip will give you only 1,5 GHz instead of 2,2. The other characteristics are pretty average: 15 Mp of the main camera, 8 Mp of frontal one, 3000 mAh of the battery, and lots of pre-installed apps to delete. Don’t expect miracles from that one, but it is still worth its money.

  1. iPhone 6

Especially for Android haters! We all know that the price of all the previous iPhones plummets on the day of the release of the new one. So now we can buy a great phone for as much as $150-$200. iPhone 6 features the famous iOs and the great Apple assembly quality but offers us only 1GB RAM and 16 GB of internal memory. But it still has the HD Retina display, awesome camera optics (but only 8 Mp of the main one and 1,3 Mp of the frontal one), and lots of enhancements for gaming apps. iPhone gadgets are often much more expensive than their competitors, but if you really want one, you still can have a decent device fitting your budget.
